In the second year, the simple gathering of friends had blossomed into an organization in need of more structure.

In this year, the Order of the Laurel was founded, rewarding those who excelled in the Arts. The first two Laurels, Master Alfonso de Castile and Master Beverly Hodghead (pictured sitting left and right respectively) are surrounded with symbols of various arts to be considered "in period" - meaning that which was practiced prior to 1600 A.D.

In the topmost margins are the arms representing the first Knight of the Order, Sir Ardral Argo ver Kaeysc and the first Master of Arms, Sir Richard of Mont Royal (again, left and right respectively). A Master at arms is of the same rank as a Knight but one who cannot swear fealty to the king for what ever personal beliefs prevent him.

In the lower margin is a ducal crown. In AS II the peerage of Duke was created for those that had won two tourneys. At this point, there were no official Duchesses as no woman had served twice as Queen of Love and Beauty. The title of Duchess was a courtesy title for the lady of a Duke.
