At the Rowany festival, a member of the college of St. Aldhelm purchased the Seneschal of St. Ursula in the Fighter Auction Tourney and made her wear a blue and yellow St Aldhelm tabard (pictured standing on the left). In the course of fighting, a great sword hilt was won. There was great argument as to who should get the prize. Should it go to the combatant who fought and won or should it go to the patron that bought the fighter in the auction and inspired said fighter with the tabard of St. Aldhelm? It was decided that a sword should be fitted to the hilt and become the Sword Of Knowledge with all colleges gathering to contest for the privilege of carrying it until the next war. The monk is representative of that agreement between St Aldhelm and St Ursula.

The first official inter-college war happened in June between St. Aldhelm and St. Ursula during "The Defense of the Realm".
